Two federal immigration agents (ICE) have been suspended after being accused of false statements related to the shooting of a Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis on January 14. The incident occurred during a traffic stop when the immigrant attempted to flee and was shot in the leg by a bullet fired by an agent.

Authorities announced that, although the immigrant was arrested and charged, the prosecution has dropped the charges, citing new evidence that contradicts the allegations. ICE Director Todd Lyons stated that video footage suggests that the agents provided false testimony under oath, a serious federal offense. The incident is part of a large operation to arrest illegal immigrants initiated by the Trump administration in cities run by Democrats.
