Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump's emissary, is visiting Russia ahead of the expiration of the US president's ultimatum to Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin, through spokesman Dmitry Peskov, said that Witkoff's meeting with Putin is not ruled out and that such contacts are constructive. The visit comes after Trump's deployment of two nuclear submarines in response to comments by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that prompted calls for caution from Moscow over nuclear threats.
