Donald Trump praises the AfD's historic victory in Saxony-Anhalt

United States President Donald Trump welcomed the result achieved by the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the regional elections in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The American leader argued that the party's success represents a reaction by voters to the immigration policies implemented in recent years.

In a message published on his social media platform, Trump described the election as a “very good evening” for conservative forces and said that Germans have had enough of the rules and regulations in the field of migration. He added that the AfD is “on the rise” and used the acronym “MGGA,” an adaptation of his electoral slogan “Make America Great Again.”

The final results place the AfD in an unprecedented position in German regional politics. According to the information presented, this is the first time since World War II that a far-right party has come so close to taking power at the state level. Voter turnout was 78%, the highest in Saxony-Anhalt since German reunification in 1990.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he was “deeply shocked” by the result. For his part, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the enthusiasm of the European far right over the AfD's victory and issued harsh accusations against Polish parties that welcomed the German election.
