Shortly after President Trump announced that the federal government would cease collaboration with the company Anthropic, its artificial intelligence tools were used in a major airstrike in Iran. Military commands, including the U.S. Central Command, are using Claude AI for intelligence assessments and target identification, despite the conflict between Anthropic and the Pentagon. The administration designated the company as a security threat after it refused to allow the use of its tools in all legal scenarios. Additionally, the relationship between Anthropic and the Pentagon has deteriorated, and the Department of Defense has begun collaborating with competitors such as OpenAI and xAI. Replacing Claude with other AI models will be a complicated and lengthy process.
