The US Department of Homeland Security has announced that migrants who choose to self-deport will receive $1,000 and airfare support. This costs less than the actual deportation, which comes to about $17,000 per person. Although Trump has promised to deport millions of migrants, the number has been lower compared to the Biden administration. The homeland security secretary emphasized that self-deportation is a safer and more cost-effective option.
