Donald Trump, the president of the USA, praised the future prime minister Péter Magyar, considering him a good man who will do a good job, after Viktor Orban's failure to win the elections. In an interview with ABC News, Trump acknowledged that he was not very involved in the elections and does not know if his presence would have influenced the outcome.
Although Orbán has been a close ally of Trump, he emphasized that Magyar, a former member of the Fidesz party, shares similar views to Orbán, especially regarding immigration. Trump's reaction is surprising, considering that the USA supported Orbán in the electoral campaign. Trump previously reacted to Viktor Orban's election loss, stating that he was a friend and a good man, appreciating the way he handled immigration. Magyar, who won the elections with a super-majority, is meeting with the president of Hungary to request a swift transfer of power.
