Journalists from the Wall Street Journal, Axios, and Haaretz have revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump is open to the idea of providing military support to opposition groups in Iran, including Kurdish factions. In recent discussions at the White House, Trump had conversations with Kurdish leaders and continues to engage with allied leaders who could benefit from the weakening of the Iranian regime. Although no final decision has been made regarding military or intelligence assistance, Trump considers the possibility of arming militias inside and outside Iran to destabilize the Tehran regime.

The Kurds, who have significant forces at the border between Iraq and Iran, could play an important role in this context, and Israeli bombings of positions in western Iran have fueled speculation about a possible collaboration between Israel and Kurdish forces. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump has discussed with regional partners but did not provide details about the president's specific intentions.
