United States President Donald Trump said Monday evening that he does not believe Russia and China are providing support to Iran in its conflict with Washington and Israel. The White House leader stated that Moscow and Beijing would have “too much to lose” if they became involved, and that the United States would quickly learn about any form of assistance.
Trump published the message on the Truth Social platform in response to comments by his critics and opponents, who claim that Russia and China are supporting Tehran. According to the American president, if such support exists, it would be “at a very low level.”
The United States and Iran have been at war since February 28, following attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. Tehran responded with strikes on Israel and on several Gulf states that host American bases. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions of displaced people.
Russia and China maintain close relations with Iran. Moscow has warned of the risk of a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, while Beijing has condemned the American attacks on Tehran. Trump claims that he previously received assurances from Chinese leader Xi Jinping that Beijing would not support Iran. These statements were made amid reports of the possible provision of Chinese military equipment and support for Iran in evading oil sanctions.
