The President of the USA, Donald Trump, stated on Monday that his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains ''very good'', even though Netanyahu rejected the latest American roadmap for Gaza.

The Israeli Prime Minister expressed reluctance towards this plan, which aims to launch the second phase of the peace initiative. Netanyahu emphasized that the Israeli army will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is completely disarmed, in the context of the difficult legislative elections in September.

Although he called Trump ''Israel's greatest friend in the White House'', Netanyahu mentioned that Israel will defend its positions against American proposals. The relations between the two leaders faced difficulties this spring when Trump accused Netanyahu of undermining negotiations with Iran.
