United States President Donald Trump has urged Israelis to vote for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tuesday’s legislative elections, portraying him as an essential leader for the country’s security and claiming the war in Iran as a “joint victory” for the United States and Israel.

Trump published the message on Sunday on the Truth Social platform. “When you go to vote, don’t forget that Bibi was an exceptional warrior prime minister,” the US leader wrote, referring to Netanyahu by his nickname.

The Israeli prime minister has focused his campaign on security issues and maintains that he is the only politician capable of protecting Israel. In an interview with the private broadcaster Channel 14, which has declared its support for Netanyahu, he repeated his accusations that his opponents are seeking to establish a Palestinian state, a scenario he considers “a catastrophe for Israel.”

Election posters in Israel portray Netanyahu alongside the slogan “either the right or Palestine.” The prime minister is also invoking the Iranian threat, claiming credit for the results of the military operations launched on February 28 together with Donald Trump. Netanyahu said his government had achieved most of its objectives and that only he could complete the operation. These statements dominate the final stage of the election campaign.
