Trump has discussed the possibility of strikes on Iran, but has delayed authorizing them because of uncertainties about the effectiveness of conventional bombs, particularly the GBU-57, on the Fordo facility. It lies at considerable depth and assessments suggest that only a tactical nuclear bomb could ensure complete destruction. Although the attacks could delay Iran's nuclear program, the actual destruction of Fordo is considered impossible without US involvement.
