Donald Trump bans CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from the White House, accusing them of broadcasting fake news

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a ban on access to the White House for CNN, MSNOW, formerly MSNBC, and the publication Politico, accusing the three media organizations of constantly broadcasting “fake news.” The decision was announced on his social media platform and affects the work of journalists accredited to presidential events.

The measure is considered particularly significant in CNN’s case, as the network is part of a group of five television outlets that rotate responsibility for covering the president’s travels and continuously monitoring his activities. The restrictions could limit reporters’ access to briefings, public events and official trips.

Trump warned that other media organizations could also be targeted, arguing that the press should not be allowed to publish what he calls “fictions and lies” about the president, his administration or the United States.

The decision continues the series of conflicts between Trump and news organizations. In February 2025, Associated Press journalists were excluded from the Oval Office, Air Force One and other restricted events after the agency did not use the name requested by the president for the Gulf of Mexico. Since returning to the White House, Trump has also launched legal action against publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and the BBC.
