<p>In a conference, Donald Trump announced measures to improve the safety of biological research, including halting federal funding for certain virus research programs conducted abroad, which he deems "dangerous." The administration believes that these practices contributed to the Covid-19 pandemic, linking the SARS-CoV-2 virus to research conducted at a lab in Wuhan, China. It is also proposing a strategy to regulate such research in the US as part of a broader reform of US science policy.
