American President Donald Trump stated that Cuba wants to reach an agreement with the United States, asserting that this will happen "very soon."
In a statement made on Air Force One, Trump emphasized that, in the event that negotiations do not yield results, the U.S. will take necessary measures. He mentioned that Washington will address the situation in Iran before focusing on Cuba. Trump also confirmed that negotiations with Cuba are ongoing, while Havana recently released political prisoners as part of an agreement with the Vatican.
Although Cuba has acknowledged that it is negotiating with the U.S., it denied direct contacts with American officials. Additionally, Washington has imposed an energy blockade on Cuba, citing a threat to national security.
