Zelensky, after the meeting with Trump: "We discussed the licenses for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles"

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, had a private meeting on Tuesday in the Oval Office, ahead of the funeral of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. The discussions focused on reviving peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the possibility for Ukraine to obtain a license for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles, essential for defense against ballistic and hypersonic missile attacks launched by Russia.

After the meeting, Zelensky described the encounter as "fruitful" and stated that he conveyed his condolences to Trump for the death of Senator Lindsey Graham. The Ukrainian leader noted that the discussions addressed both the production of Patriot missiles based on an American license and other defense cooperation projects, without providing further details.

The two leaders also discussed the prospects of reviving the diplomatic process to end the war.

At the same time, the visit comes after the Trump administration informed Congress that it would not fully utilize the previously approved funds for assistance to Kyiv, a decision criticized by lawmakers from both parties.
