Volodymyr Zelensky announces an agreement to deliver a batch of Patriot missiles to Ukraine, without disclosing the supplier

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced on Thursday, during a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian community in the United States, that he had reached an agreement for the delivery of a batch of missiles intended for Patriot air defense systems. The announcement comes at a time when Ukraine is facing a critical shortage of ammunition, particularly interceptors capable of stopping Russian ballistic missiles.

Zelenskyy described the agreement as “very important,” but did not specify the supplier country, the number of missiles, or the date on which they would arrive in Ukraine. “We have reached an agreement—I will not say with whom—regarding the delivery of a batch of missiles for Patriot systems,” the Kyiv leader said, as quoted by the Ukrainian press.

The announcement was made during Zelenskyy’s visit to the United States, where he addressed the UN General Assembly and met with several leaders, including US President Donald Trump. The discussions focused on Ukraine’s urgent needs ahead of the cold season.

US Congressional documents indicate that Washington could approve the transfer of 10 Patriot interceptors from Germany to Ukraine. Separately, Romania announced that it would donate interceptor missiles to Kyiv, as part of a joint effort by NATO countries that possess such systems.
