A triple murder committed on Monday in Ankara has sparked outrage among feminist groups, after it was revealed that the main suspect was a temporarily released inmate. The three victims, the suspect's mother, wife, and daughter, were shot dead, and the man then turned the gun on himself. He was serving a sentence for threats with a weapon and fraud, having been released for eleven days at the beginning of February.
Feminist groups, such as the Women's Solidarity Committees and the association 'We Will Stop Femicide', condemned the incident and organized a rally to protest against domestic violence. In 2025, 294 women were killed by men in Turkey, and another 297 died under suspicious circumstances, highlighting an alarming problem of femicide in the country.
