In the initial investigations following the attack in Krakow, the Polish press reported that the suspect (a Polish man approximately 24–25 years old) had no criminal record and worked as a lathe operator. He had a license for sporting firearms, was a member of a shooting club in Starachowice, and owned two firearms registered in his name; in the car used in the attack, police found weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.
At the same time, Prime Minister Donald Tusk called for the attack to be described as “terrorism” and announced two days of national mourning before the authorities had conducted complete assessments. When inspecting the suspect’s home, investigators also used a drone to confirm the presence of deceased individuals inside.
