Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has announced that starting Tuesday, travelers at US airports will no longer have to remove their shoes during security screenings, a measure that has been in place since 2006. The change was made possible thanks to a pilot program that demonstrated that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has the necessary equipment to maintain security. While most travelers will be able to keep their shoes on, some may be asked to remove their shoes if additional measures are deemed necessary. The TSA will continue to review other rules to streamline screening.
