Following an order issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), hundreds of flights in the U.S. have been canceled, and air traffic has been reduced by 10% at the country's largest 40 airports. Over 790 flights scheduled for Friday have been removed from the schedule, and the number of cancellations is continuously increasing, with nearly 500 flights canceled for Saturday. This situation has arisen due to the increasingly frequent absences of air traffic controllers, who are working without pay during the government shutdown. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy emphasized that the decision to cancel flights is a safety one, not political, and assured that flights remain safe. The FAA will implement gradual reductions in air traffic, reaching a 10% reduction by November 14. Affected airports include Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta and O'Hare in Chicago. The FAA's decision puts pressure on Senate Democrats, who are blocking a government spending bill.
