A serious train accident occurred near the town of Gelida, about 35 minutes from Barcelona, when a commuter train derailed after a retaining wall collapsed onto the tracks. As a result of the incident, one person died and at least 37 passengers were injured.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced that, so far, no Romanian citizens have been reported among the victims and that no consular requests have been received at the Romanian General Consulate in Barcelona or on emergency numbers. Consulate representatives are in contact with Spanish authorities to monitor the situation.
