Toyota Motor has reported record sales of 5.54 million vehicles in the first half of 2023, maintaining its position as the global industry leader for the sixth consecutive year. Global sales rose 7.4% year-on-year, including a significant recovery in the domestic market. While Volkswagen sold 4.41 million vehicles, Toyota is preparing to start producing electric vehicles in Europe from 2028, marking a strategic shift to meet stringent European Union environmental regulations.
