According to a report by Rho Motion, sales of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) increased by 23% in October, totaling approximately 1.9 million units sold. Europe was the main driver of this growth, with high demand in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. In contrast, global sales decreased after a previous peak, despite the European Union approving several projects for electric vehicle batteries.
China, which accounts for over half of global sales, benefits from a more favorable price difference between electric vehicles and those with internal combustion engines. In North America, sales dropped by 41% due to the expiration of the $7,500 tax credit, and electric vehicles remain more expensive than traditional ones. In October, China sold approximately 1.3 million electric vehicles, Europe recorded 372,786 units, and North America fell to 100,370.
