The Bulgarian far-right party Vazrazhdane is pressuring for the adoption of a parliamentary resolution to postpone the adoption of the euro until January 1, 2027.

This initiative comes after the recent resignation of the government, following national protests against corruption and economic policy, including the transition to the euro. Bulgaria plans to adopt the EU's common currency in 2026, but about 50% of the population opposes this measure due to fears related to rising prices. Kostadinov, the party leader, argues that Bulgaria is not ready for the conversion to the euro, considering that the budget for next year is calculated in leva. He also requested a meeting of the National Security Advisory Council to discuss "illegal and forced" accession to the eurozone, but did not receive a response.
