The U.S. State Department announced that it has revoked or denied visas for approximately 80 Palestinians, including the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, in the context of their participation in the UN General Assembly. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the PA and PLO must reject terrorism and international legal actions to be considered peace partners. Although the visas have been revoked, the PA's mission to the UN will benefit from visa exemptions under an agreement with the State Department. The Palestinian Authority expressed regret over this decision.
