Jeff Landry, the American envoy to Greenland, stated that the United States must strengthen its presence in this Danish autonomous territory, considering the increased interest of the Trump administration in the area.
In a statement to AFP, Landry emphasized that it is time for the U.S. to regain its influence in Greenland, mentioning discussions about enhancing national security operations and reallocating personnel to military bases. Currently, the U.S. has only one military base in Greenland, compared to the numerous facilities during the Cold War. Landry attended the 'Future Greenland' economic forum but left quickly without interacting with the participants. He also met with Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Foreign Minister Mute Egede, who reaffirmed that Greenland is not for sale but is open to collaboration.
