Almost 150 countries have reached an agreement under the OECD to prevent the shifting of profits by large companies to tax havens, but the United States has been excluded from this plan, which has generated criticism from organizations for fiscal transparency. The agreement, which establishes a global minimum tax of 15%, excludes American multinational corporations, following negotiations by the Trump administration with the G7. OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann described this agreement as an important step in international tax cooperation, but critics, such as Zorka Milin from the Fact Coalition, warn that the US exemption undermines progress made in corporate taxation. This situation allows American companies to continue to park their profits in jurisdictions with low taxes, thus affecting the global tax base.
