The Pentagon has officially declared the artificial intelligence company Anthropic as a risk in the supply chain. This is the first time an American company has received such a label.

This decision comes in the context of Anthropic's refusal to provide unlimited access to its AI tools, out of fears that they could be used for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. A senior Pentagon official stated that the designation is "effective immediately."

Anthropic has announced that it will sue the Pentagon over this labeling. Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he will order all federal agencies to stop using technology from Anthropic, claiming that "we don't need it" and that they will no longer collaborate with the company.
