The US Ambassador reaffirms, after meetings with the leaders of the main political parties, full confidence in the democratic institutions of Romania.

The United States Ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, had meetings on Wednesday with the leaders of the main political parties, including the president of USR, Dominic Fritz, and the president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu.

During the discussions, Nirenberg conveyed a message of confidence in Romania's democratic institutions and in the bilateral relationship with Washington. The ambassador emphasized the importance of the rule of law and the common values that underpin the partnership between the two countries. Nirenberg stated that democracy can be chaotic, but it is the best system of governance, expressing his belief that Romania will overcome the current challenges.

He also mentioned that the relationship between Romania and the USA is strong and will continue to strengthen.

Nirenberg, appointed ambassador in May 2025, has extensive experience in the political field, having held leadership positions in the U.S. Senate for 14 years.
