A university in China has launched an unusual directive, urging students to "pick flowers and fall in love" during the spring vacation, from April 1 to 6. This initiative comes in the context of Chinese authorities seeking new ways to stimulate marriages and domestic consumption in a country known for its emphasis on academic performance.
The message was published on the official WeChat page of the Sichuan Vocational College of Aviation, two weeks after China announced the introduction of spring and autumn vacations in schools. Additionally, authorities encourage paid leave to allow employees to travel during the off-peak season.
In an effort to reverse the declining birth rate, which has reached a record low, China aims to stimulate consumption and create favorable conditions for raising children by improving public services.
