At the University of Kentucky, a shooting occurred on Tuesday, resulting in the death of one person and the serious injury of another, both of whom were students of the institution. The incident took place outside the Young Hall student dormitory, and the suspect, Jacob Lee Bard from Evansville, Indiana, was arrested at the scene by campus police. Bard has been charged with murder and first-degree assault. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear stated that the incident is isolated and not a mass attack. The injured victim was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition. The university went into lockdown, and KSU President Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo expressed compassion for the affected students and families. This is the second incident of this type at KSU this year, after shootings occurred near the same dormitory in August.
