The Taliban leadership marked Saturday five years since their return to power in Afghanistan, organizing ceremonies and a parade in Kabul, in front of the former United States embassy. The Interior Minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani, stated that the return of the Taliban was the result of morale and courage, acknowledging, however, the existence of persistent problems.

Human rights organizations severely criticize the restrictions imposed on women and girls, with 2.5 million young women excluded from education, according to UNESCO. Although the Taliban claim to respect women's rights according to Sharia law, the reality is different.

The Taliban government remains largely unrecognized internationally, with the exception of Russia, while the humanitarian crisis worsens, with the number of those in need of assistance increasing by 3.5 million compared to 2021. The security situation is fragile, and UN representatives emphasize that the stability of Afghanistan depends on economic development and the respect for the rights of all citizens.
