On February 9, Cyrielle Chatelain, the president of the ecologist deputies in France, called on President Emmanuel Macron to leave platform X, emphasizing that using it as a communication tool contradicts the denunciation of the dangers associated with the social network. In her letter, Chatelain mentioned recent searches conducted by the French judiciary at the X headquarters, as part of a preliminary investigation related to the bias of the platform's algorithms and the dissemination of denialist content and deepfakes.
The investigation targets serious suspicions, including complicity in the possession of child pornography images. Chatelain argued that Macron's departure from the platform could have a significant political impact, encouraging other politicians to do the same. She also highlighted that her account activity on X has been inactive since January 2025, thus demonstrating her stance against the platform.
