The nuclear power plant at Kozloduy returns to normal production capacity.

The Kozloduy nuclear power plant, the only nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, has begun to gradually return to its normal electricity production capacity, according to Agerpres, which cites EFE. The reduction in the plant's power by 12% was necessary last month due to the lowering of the Danube's water level, which affects the water supply to the reactors. Bulgaria relies on Kozloduy for nearly one third of its electricity needs. Currently, one of the two reactors is operating at nearly maximum capacity of 1,000 megawatts, while the other is already at maximum capacity.

At the same time, Romania has shut down the Cernavodă plant for the same reasons, and the measures taken to increase the flow of the Danube have not been successful. Recently, the Danube's water level rose by 15 centimeters at Ruse, thus facilitating the return of the Bulgarian plant to its normal capacity. Kozloduy, with a total capacity of 2,000 megawatts, supplies 30% of Bulgaria's electricity and has a history of 52 years.
