Daniela Klette, at the age of 67, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for armed robberies and complicity in kidnapping, being the last member of the far-left terrorist group, the Red Army Faction (RAF).
The German authorities searched for her for 30 years, and her arrest took place in February 2024, in her apartment in Berlin, where she was living under a false name. Klette was identified after images of her appeared at a capoeira festival. The court in Verden found her guilty on six counts, including robberies committed between 1999 and 2016, and discovered a stash of weapons and cash in her apartment.
During the trial, Klette claimed that she is a victim of a political trial and promised that she would continue the fight against capitalism. Although she was convicted, previous charges related to her activities within the RAF can no longer be prosecuted due to the statute of limitations. The RAF was responsible for a series of violent attacks in Germany in the 1970s and 1980s.
