The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense has observed an increase in the presence of Chinese military aircraft and ships around Taiwan, with 26 aircraft detected on Saturday, of which 16 entered the Air Defense Identification Zones. This military activity followed a period of calm, during which no provocations from China were reported.

Beijing considers Taiwan a separatist province and proposes reunification by 2049. Recently, Chinese authorities detailed their reunification plans, intensifying military rhetoric and actions. Control over Taiwan would allow China to expand its military influence in the Pacific Ocean, but an invasion would be complex and would require significant resources.
