The governments of Mexico, Brazil, and Spain have expressed their deep concern regarding the humanitarian crisis faced by the Cuban people, in a statement published by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The three countries have called for immediate measures to alleviate the situation and emphasized the need to avoid actions that could worsen the living conditions of the population or that would be contrary to international law. Additionally, they have requested a sincere and respectful dialogue, in accordance with international norms, to find a sustainable solution that would allow the Cuban people to freely decide their future.
This appeal was made in the context of a summit of leftist leaders taking place in Barcelona, attended by leaders such as the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the President of Brazil, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva.
At the same time, the United States has intensified economic pressure on Cuba, blocking the supply of hydrocarbons, which has exacerbated the existing economic and energy crisis in the country.
