Former South Korean defense minister Kim Yong-hyun attempted suicide in detention.

Kim Yong-hyun was detained after he made a statement on the imposition of martial law, which sparked a political crisis in the country. He was found trying to take his own life in the solitary confinement room where he had been moved. According to the general commissioner of the Korean Correctional Service, Kim has been transferred to a hospital in stable condition.
