The special prosecutor in South Korea has brought additional charges against former president Yoon Suk Yeol, accusing him of abuse of power and aiding an enemy state, in the context of an attempt to impose martial law last year.

Yoon allegedly tried to provoke a military conflict with North Korea to justify martial law, according to evidence found on the phone of a military official.

The former South Korean president has been removed from office and is on trial for insurrection. He claims that he declared martial law to protect democracy, not to impose a military regime. Prosecutors have accused Yoon and his associates of planning secret operations with drones in North Korea to create tensions. The former defense minister and another official are also being tried for actions related to this situation.
