The former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has exhausted all avenues of appeal against his 27-year prison sentence for attempted coup, according to a document published on Tuesday by the Supreme Court, and he will have to serve his sentence.
In September, the Supreme Court found him guilty of leading a "criminal organization" that conspired to ensure his "authoritarian hold on power" after the victory of his leftist rival, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in the October 2022 elections. His appeal was officially rejected in mid-November.
