Ukraine will benefit from funds from the member states of the European Union, even if Hungary and Slovakia continue to block a loan of 90 billion euros. European leaders will meet in Brussels to try to convince Viktor Orbán and Robert Fico to lift the veto. In the event that they refuse, the Baltic and Nordic countries have prepared a separate plan, which includes bilateral loans worth 30 billion euros, which do not require the approval of the entire Union. Ukraine's financial needs have decreased after the IMF approved an aid of 8.1 billion dollars, thus ensuring the country's solvency until May. The European Commissioner for Economy, Valdis Dombrovskis, stated that the funds will reach their destination, regardless of difficulties. Tensions have risen between Ukraine and Hungary due to a Russian drone hitting the Druzhba pipeline, and Orbán has accused Ukraine of delaying repairs. In the context of the elections in Hungary, officials in Brussels hope for a change in Orbán's position, who uses anti-Ukraine rhetoric to gain votes. On the other hand, Robert Fico from Slovakia seems more open to negotiations, recently discussing the restoration of oil transit through Ukraine. European diplomats are optimistic that they will succeed in unlocking financial aid for Ukraine.
