The European Union will provide emergency humanitarian aid of 2 million euros for communities in Colombia affected by a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 that occurred on Monday morning.

The announcement was made by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who emphasized that the EU will support Colombia in continuing search and rescue operations. The current toll shows that at least 250 people have lost their lives as a result of the earthquake, which was also felt in neighboring countries such as Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela.

Additionally, a recent double earthquake in Venezuela has led to over 6,000 deaths, highlighting the severity of the seismic situation in the region. The EU reaffirms its commitment to support affected communities in these difficult times.
