The European Commission has announced an allocation of 2 million euros to support Nepal, following the floods that have devastated communities.

The European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, emphasized the devastating impact of the floods, mentioning destroyed roads, isolated villages, and families searching for their missing loved ones.

This amount adds to the nearly 3 million euros allocated at the beginning of the year for disaster preparedness. The EU will also send a rapid response coordinator to Asia to support on-the-ground intervention and has activated the Copernicus satellite mapping service, which will provide maps of the affected areas. The aid will be aimed at covering urgent needs, including food, medical assistance, drinking water, hygiene services, and shelter.
