Democrats on the House Committee on Homeland Security, led by Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, sent a letter to their colleagues on Sunday, urging them to vote against the government funding package that includes a two-week continuing resolution to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In the letter, they emphasized that "Democrats must act now to demand real changes that will protect our communities" before ICE and CBP agencies receive new funding. The Democrats listed several desired amendments, including ending immigration operations in Minneapolis and recovering funds received by ICE and CBP through Trump's law. They also called for the resignation of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
