Five days after the robbery at the Louvre, authorities decided to move the French crown jewels to a secure safe at the Banque de France, located 26 meters underground, for security reasons. The transport was carried out under police escort, and the information was confirmed by media sources. The robberies took place in the Apollo Gallery, where four masked thieves broke two display cases and stole eight valuable jewels, estimated at 88 million euros.
The museum was evacuated and closed, and authorities continue the search for the identification of the thieves and the recovery of the stolen jewels. The transfer of the jewels is considered exceptional, given that the central bank's safes also hold other significant valuables, such as Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks, valued at over 600 million euros.
