A man and a woman are accused of stealing jewelry and gold coins worth 150,000 lei from the home of a 70-year-old woman.

Police from Secția 20 in Bucharest apprehended, on August 18, 2026, a man and a woman accused of stealing eight gold coins and jewelry made of gold and silver, with a total value of 150,000 lei, from the home of a 70-year-old woman.

The two, who offered cleaning services for a fee, are suspected of having taken advantage of the owner's inattention to steal the goods. Another man is being investigated for possession, as he is suspected of having pawned the stolen goods in Caransebeș. The police launched the investigation after the woman filed a complaint on March 17, 2026. Following the investigations, searches were conducted and evidence was gathered that led to the apprehension of the suspects.

They were initially detained for 24 hours, and later placed under judicial control for 60 days. The police advise citizens to be cautious regarding individuals entering homes for cleaning services and not to leave valuable items in plain sight. The investigations continue under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office next to the Court of Sector 6.
