A remarkable necklace with Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds, set in platinum and composed of 673 precious stones, was stolen from the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna (MAK). Two men, who purchased tickets, broke a display case with a hammer and fled with the jewelry, according to Austrian police.

The necklace, valued at several million euros by Sotheby's in 2015, was made especially for the Egyptian royal family and worn by Queen Nazli in 1939. The temporary exhibition dedicated to the house of Van Cleef & Arpels, which includes 500 pieces, remains closed until further notice. The museum has not provided additional details about the ongoing investigation. This piece of jewelry is considered an iconic piece of white jewelry, complemented by a tiara with similar embellishments.
