Pakistani security sources have announced that the ceasefire agreed upon in June, part of a framework agreement between the US and Iran, is set to be extended. This extension could last between 60 and 90 days, but it has not yet been decided whether it will be announced publicly.

Pakistan plays a mediating role in this conflict, and an agreement between Iran and Oman regarding transit through the Strait of Hormuz could be imminent, with a possible completion before Saturday. The initial 60-day deadline for negotiations expires in mid-August. Since the beginning of the US and Israel's bombing campaign against Iran, there have been reciprocal attacks, and negotiations have not advanced significantly. Iran has recently held direct negotiations with Oman to regulate the transit of ships through the currently blocked Strait of Hormuz.
