The lower house of the German Parliament, the Bundestag, adopted on Wednesday a new spending package of nearly 50 billion euros for equipping the German army, the Bundeswehr. This decision comes in response to urgent defense needs in the context of threats from Russia, according to the German Ministry of Defense. The spending package, approved by the Defense Committee of the Bundestag, targets Bundeswehr armament projects for the year 2025, totaling approximately 83 billion euros. The Ministry considers this level of spending to be historic and a strong signal to the North Atlantic Alliance and international partners.
