The Baltic states, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, are intensifying protective measures against threats from Russia, analyzing Ukraine's experience in civil defense, especially in the context of drone attacks.
These countries are in discussions with Ukrainian companies for the acquisition of bomb shelters and the modernization of defensive infrastructure, following recent incidents with drones that have entered their airspace. The Baltic authorities believe that these episodes could become a major security problem, considering the intensification of attacks in the Baltic Sea region.
NATO recently intervened, scrambling fighter jets to respond to drone threats.
Ukrainian companies, which have accumulated experience during the war, are seen as a valuable source of expertise. Additionally, the Estonian Minister of Defense emphasized that Estonia has long been preparing for Russian threats, while the authorities in Lithuania and Latvia have not officially confirmed negotiations regarding the acquisition of shelters.
The issue of drones has generated political tensions in the region, and the Baltic states are looking to learn from Ukraine's harsh lessons to protect their populations.
